About the role

SIGN-ON BONUS - $5,000 (1 / 3 after 1 month, 1 / 3 after 6 months, 1 / 3 after 1 year)

The CDL Driver will perform duties associated with labeling, marking, packaging, loading / unloading, and the transportation of hazardous and non-hazardous waste between Covanta facilities and the client’s sites.

Drivers will have the opportunity to operate a variety of equipment including vacuum tankers, vacuum trucks, vans, and walking floor.

Responsibilities :

• Drive commercial vehicles to pick up and transport waste to a designated location safely while meeting scheduled appointments and following all DOT regulations.
• Ensure placarding of the vehicle meets DOT regulations.
• Completes paperwork including, but not limited to, expense reports, timesheets, vehicle inspection reports, manifests, and job sheets.
• Conducts the required DOT pre-trip / post trip inspection on equipment such as : tires, lights, brakes, hoses, and fluids.
• Inspects all containers on loads to verify proper labeling, marking, and segregation.
• Secure cargo prior to and during transit.
• Complete additional assigned duties.

Requirements :

• High School Diploma or equivalent, preferred
• Covanta offers GED Works a fully funded program for employees to achieve their GED.
• Must be 21 years or older, due to interstate travel in a commercial vehicle and federal regulations.
• Minimum (1) year of commercial driving experience.
• CDL Class A
• Tanker and HazMat endorsement preferred (candidate will be expected to obtain the endorsements as a condition of employment after hire)
• Must be able to drive manual transmission
• Clean driving record.
• Ability to use a tablet for E-Logs.
• Abide by standard DOT regulations at all times.
